The Gazelle road leagal electric quadricycle We aim to show you, on this site, an insight into owning a Gazelle road legal electric buggy, and try and answer some of the questions relating to electric transport We would be pleased to here views from any one interested in electric transport or who would like more information. Please go to our page Miyths and links on electric vehicles You can give us your opinion and it may help you to make up your mind. Presidently under construction. Why own a small electric vehicle. We see the main use as the replacement for the second car although other manufacturers have found they are often the main vehicle, while using public transport for longer journey's. Many families have more than one car and with escalating running costs, it makes sense to keep only one vehicle for work and long distance commuting. Where a second vehicle is used to travel to work large savings can be made by replacing the car with an electric quadricycle. The quadricycle can then also double up for shopping trips and weekend leisure. Here are some of the reasons. There is big difference in the cost of fuel against that of electricity The Gazelle buggy can achieve around 400 mpg equivalent to petrol costs depending on tarrifs. The road fund licence is zero rated and running costs are much lower as there is little maintenance. You can work out savings against your vehicle using our calculator below. In London the savings can run into several thousand pounds during 12 months. With no congestion charge, free parking in many area's and free charging. The cost of fully charging at home is about 40 pence. Congestion charges will be introduced in other UK cities in the future to avoid rush hour jams and raise revenue for cash strapped councils. Why buy a Gazelle electric buggy. There are other electric quadricycles available in the UK and are used mainly around London, because of the big savings on parking and congestion charge. Firstly is the purchase cost, the Gazelle is lowest in the Uk and probably in Europe. Secondly the replacement battery cost, this is one of the main considerations to take into account when purchasing an electric vehicle. Larger electric vehicles have batteries that cost thousands of pounds to replace and should be viewed as needing renewal in anything from 1 to 5 years, depending on usage. Our batteries are deep discharge lead acid, with a 3 year manufacturers warranty and a cost of under £800 to replace, (based on 2011 prices). Thirdly the Gazelle is the only dual purpose electric vehicle available in the UK. It is both a road legal commuter quadricycle in the same catagory as a G Wiz and an off road ATV. It can be used on golf courses, farms, forestry promotional work or just plain fun. The inclusion of a tow bar and electric winch add to its versatiliy being capable of towing a small trailer or winching various items including itself. Like other small electric transport the maintenance costs are very small compared with petrol or diesel powered vehicles. No oil or filters to change, no water or antifreeze to worry about and no complicated fuel system to go wrong. The electric motor we use is maintenance free being brushless with no moving parts in contact. The only part likely to need replacement is the drive belt from the motor to the final gearbox. It should give a long life being similar to ones used on some large motorbikes such as BMW. See more details and specification at www hitechsupplies.co.uk |
